What is Chair Club?
Chair Club is a participatory chair-making project initiated by designer Taekhan Yun in 2026. The project expands on the idea of Chair for Kids, which Yun carried out in Cambodia in 2025.
While Chair for Kids brought the chairs imagined by children in Cambodia into the physical world, Chair Club expands this idea to people around the world. Anyone can participate by drawing their own chair, and Yun turns selected drawings into physical chairs.
Chair Club goes beyond making individual chairs. It is a project that connects imagination with reality, while collecting and documenting the diverse ideas of people from around the world as a growing collection of chairs.
The chair is something we encounter every day, perhaps so familiar that we rarely stop to think about it. But the way we imagine a chair can be infinitely different. Chair Club brings together these different perspectives and imaginations through a single object: the chair.
Age, nationality, profession, or design experience do not matter. Anyone who has ever imagined a chair can become a member of Chair Club.
